Death without Doctors
Once Fatima became deathly ill, but Nasruddin seemed rather unconcerned with the matter. The neighbors noticed that he was neglecting his sick wife.
Finally his friend Faik asked the Mullah why he didn’t take his wife to see the doctor, Berrak, who could prescribe some medicine to alleviate her suffering.
Nasruddin replied, “Don’t be ridiculous. We are poor, simple folk who don’t need a doctor. In fact, for many generations our people have managed to suffer and die without the least help of doctors or their medicines, thank you very much.”
