Truth Never Changes

Halil the schoolteacher asked, “Nasruddin, how old are you now?”

“Twelve.”

“But I remember that last year you told me that you had just turned twelve.”

“Listen,” retorted Nasruddin. “The truth has not changed. The facts have not changed. Nasruddin has not changed. Once I have uttered the truth, would you then have me go back on my word?”

Your Daily Nasruddin

According to ancient Vedic philosophy, absolute truth never changes. Indeed, only that which is unchangeable can be called Truth.

There remains a great difference between truth and facts, however, which is a point that is sadly lost on young Nasruddin. One might admire his dogged adherence to speak the truth consistently, except for the matter that he is wrong.

Truthiness (to use the Colbertism) may be a virtue, but fuzzy math just doesn’t work.
