If God Wills It
Once Nasruddin needed a new shirt made for him to wear at official services, so he went to the tailor, Hussein, to be measured for the garment. When Nasruddin asked how much time it would require to finish the shirt, Hussein said, “Two weeks, Insh’allah,” which means “God willing.”
Two weeks later, Nasruddin returned to the tailor’s shop to find out the shirt was not ready. “Come back in a week and, Insh’allah, your new shirt will be ready for you.”
When Nasruddin returned the next week, Hussein still had not finished the job. “Come back in one more week more and, Insh—”
“How long will it take,” the exasperated Nasruddin interrupted the tailor, “if you leave Allah out of it?”
